I have a ton of respect for anyone smart enough to work on a search engine, but even though this is a big upgrade from the old MSN search, they still have a long way to go to compete with Google. Bing is still too easy to manipulate, which ends up delivering shoddy results.

I agree! From an advertisers standpoint the “new/upgraded” Bing Search Engine hasn’t delivered any better results than the old MSN search. No matter how much they spend on catchy TV spots, they still can’t compete with the reach and relevancy of Google.

I met the MSN UK AdSales team at Ad Tech and they seem to be hinging a lot of their future growth on Bing. For me at present it has potential, but since usability is different to the simplicity of Google’s I wonder whether the user is incentivised enough to switch of their own accord.

Interesting interview. Thanks for sharing it. On the other hand, I think Bing still needs tons of work to become a real alternative to Google.

Bing really needs to double their efforts, much better if they will do more. On the other hand, I could say that it’s a promising search engine. Who knows, Bing might be at the top spot in the near future.
