We have been talking about Catch The Wave for some time. Now Google has joined in with their own Wave. So what is Google Wave? I first heard about this a few days ago. Since then my head has been spinning with ideas for this new application.
Google Wave is a product that helps users communicate and collaborate on the web.
A “wave” is equal parts conversation and document, where users can almost instantly communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.
Google Wave is also a platform with a rich set of open APIs that allow developers to embed waves in other web services and to build extensions that work inside waves.
The video introduction is long and a little dry, especially if you are not a techie type person, but it shows you some of the amazing features of this system. What I really like is the fact that Google has made it all open source so anyone will be able to use Wave in their own applications, or create their own Wave System.
Is Wave The Future Of Email?
My head has been spinning with ideas for how we can incorporate Wave in our own Systems here at iNetGlobal. I have actually woke up from dreaming about it.
I am going to put our developers to work on this platform right away and see what we can do with it. Is Wave the future of email? It could be… one thing for sure is that it’s an extremely cool “Real Time” collaborative platform.
Are their Marketing applications for this, absolutely, exactly what they are remains to be seen. This is a new way at looking at online communications, and it will take time to figure it all out. Even the developers don’t know what all it can do. What’s cool is that you can be a part of the process of developing this new technology.
