Google SMS Text Messaging

Posted by Steve Renner as Email Marketing

A new feature for Google Gmail users - SMS Text Messaging. Now send Text Messages to cell phones right from your Gmail account. This looks very cool.

Google says: “Send SMS text messages right from Gmail. You chat from your comfy computer and reach your friends on the go; they get your messages as texts and can peck out replies on their little keyboards.”

This is available in the Gmail Labs. Labs is something new Google has set up for new enhancements to Gmail they are working on.

Google calls it their Testing Ground for experimental features. “Gmail engineers come up with new ideas all the time. Gmail Labs is our place to try them out and get your feedback. None of these features are really ready for prime time yet, so they may change, break or disappear at any time.”

Wow, there is really a lot of very cool features in here. Next time you are in Gmail, check it out. I am not much of a Text guy, but I am coming around to it. I will give this new G-Chat to SMS Text feature a try and let you know how it works!

I am with you. I still don’t text…I am behind the ball on that, but I will need to come around on it too!
