Supercharge Your Blog - Title Tags

This will be a new series, where I will give you my best Blogging Tips, Tricks, and Strategies, that you can use to dramatically Increase the Traffic to your Blog. By using a few tried and proven Internet Marketing methods that I will share with you today, and a little effort, you will be able to Increase the Traffic to your Blog by 20%, 30% 40%, or even more.

Title Tags - Meta Descriptions - More Text

Now first I am just going to assume that you are using Wordpress. If you use some other blog software this training won’t be for you. Next I am going to assume that you already have some basic knowledge of Web Sites, Blogs, and basic SEO stuff. If not this may be too advanced for you.

Anyway…

The 1st thing you need to do is to change the way that you handle your title tags. What you want is Keyword Rich Title for your blog posts that the Search Engines can easily find. In case you don’t know, this is the words that show up in the Blue Bar at the top of your browser.

By default Wordpress will allow you to pick the Title for your Blog. This title will show up on every page. The title tag is controlled in the Options/ Settings tab, under General Settings.

Wordpress Title Tag Settings

You notice here that in the Blog Title I have used my Keyword “Internet Marketing” as the title of the Blog, and then my Name. This will also put the Title on your Blog Header. The Tag line will place a secondary line under the title on your header. Since I use a graphic in my header I don’t use this feature.

By adjusting the Permalinks you can change the way your title tags displays the title of each individual page. Blog Title/Page Title.

By using special Plugins you can adjust this even further. You can get precise control over how your Title Tags are displayed, with options like:

  1. Display the Post Title first and move the Blog Title to the end of the Title Tag
  2. Use Keyword Rich Titles to attract the Search Engine users
  3. Give each post it’s own meaningful Meta Description, giving you even more chances to provide search engine users with ways to find you.
  4. Use Plugins that allow you to place your own Meta Description, and write your own creative Keyword Rich description for each page.

There are several Plugins available for this:

  • UTW (Ultimate Tag Warrior)
  • SEO Title tags
  • All-in-one SEO
  • Jerome’s Keywords
  • Simple Tagging
  • lud.icro.us HeadMeta

I am currently using Headspace2. This Plugin has some excellent features, which I will cover in detail on my next post.
