Build a site, get some users, the traffic up and sell it for Millions. Social Networking site Kaboodle is a good example of this. Launched in October 2005, Kaboodle built up it’s userbase and traffic, and was bought out by Hearst Corporation for $30 MIllion. Cost to build the site, run it for 2 years, and get traffic, I would estimate less than a Million. Not A Bad Payday!
Kaboodle started as a free service that lets users collect information from the web and store it on a Kaboodle list that can be shared with others. Now the site’s primary focus is on Shopping. Kaboodle simplies shopping by making it easier for people to find items they’re interested in and by allowing users to share recommendations with one another using Kaboodle lists and groups.
Looks like a good investment for Hearst, Kaboodle has steadily grown and nearly tripled in their business in only a year.
Now is this something you can do? It’s possible, and it will take some money to get started. So how exactly would you go about doing it? Well it’s not something for beginners. You definitely need to have a good deal of experience in Internet Marketing before you can pull this off.
Jeremy “ShoeMoney” Schoemaker started Auction Ads and sold it out less than 6 months later for Big Bucks to Media Whiz (TextLinkAds), but that’s another story.
