So just what is Social Media Marketing? Social Media sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and many others have millions of members. Once the playground for a mainly young crowd,  Social Media phenomenon has become mainstream.

Wikipedia defines Social Media as: Social media are primarily Internet- and mobile-based tools for sharing and discussing information among human beings. The term most often refers to activities that integrate technology, telecommunications and social interaction, and the construction of words, pictures, videos and audio.

This interaction, and the manner in which information is presented, depends on the varied perspectives and “building” of shared meaning among communities, as people share their stories and experiences. Businesses also refer to social media as user-generated content (UGC) or consumer-generated media (CGM).

People gravitate towards Social Media sites for different reasons. Ths “Keyword” here is “People” Social Media sites have the people, which means traffic. So as a Marketer, how can you tap in to this wealth of People and convert this Traffic into dollars.

For different websites, the meaning of social media may differ, but for marketers, social media may mean traffic and could mean money. Social media plays a vital role for marketers especially nowadays. I like the emphasis on interaction and “building” of shared meaning which is actually true and I totally agree.

In today SEO i m not getting the kind of social media marketing as you describe the natural part of but SEOs mostly use them for making or trying to generate sales out of them just to take the meaning of ROI.
