Steve Renner Internet Marketing Site Jumps To Page Rank 5

Posted by Steve Renner as Search Engine Marketing

Now my Internet Marketing Blog http://steverenner.com has jumped to Page Rank 5. It’s been a long climb back since I dropped to PR-2 last year. I don’t know what happened exactly but the Google Gods must be smiling down at me.

This is kind of weird because I see my overall traffic has actually dropped this month, from average 585 Unique Visitors a day, to only 385, go figure. Since Google updates quarterly, it must be an average over the last 3 months. So I better get to work, so I don’t end up dropping next update.

If you look at the Alexa Traffic Rankings it shows an overall increase in the last 3 months, so that seems to go along with the theory. But Hey, Page Rank 5 is Cool - I’ll take it!

The thing I can’t really figure out it Comments. Since I set my Comments to “Do Follow“, I thought I would get swamped with Comments. But that hasn’t been the case, and I really don’t get it. If I could go out and get a One Way Link back from a Page Rank 5 Authority Site for Free I would be all over it. I’d be commenting there every day.

The only thing I can guess is that my readers are just Brain Dead! I have told them over and over about the value of Links, especially One Way Back Links, but it doesn’t seem to do any good. It’s like talking to the wall. It’s like my old Uncle Tina (RIP) used to say, “I told you and I told you”.

Oh well, if you guys can’t figure it out it’s not because I didn’t tell you!

Way Cool Mr. Renner….

I guess with a Page Rank of 5 I can’t call you Steve any more even if I am older than you. ;-)

Now I just need to copy all the great tricks you use so that my http://whoishenry.com site can join you in the PR 5 world of blogging.

Keep up the good work Steve… er… Mr. Renner.

I\’ve seen sites with quite good enough traffic but a low PR (3-4)…
My site has a PR of 4 but one particular page got a PR5 in the last update…and I am wondering why…

I understand what you mean about people not understanding. But maybe it\’s not the link thing they dont understand as much as it is the PR (Page Rank for anyone not familiar with the abbreviation.)

I hope you don\’t mind a somewhat extended post on the topic it just may help some to understand. Page Rank in its simplest form describes the way Google indexes all content and websites based on importance. This is done with a set of algorithms its not done by humans.

Google reviews the number of pages that link to other pages as part of this system, effectively assigning it a higher page rank because of its online importance. These ‘votes’ are collected on an ongoing basis, and you will find it much easier to establish an online presence when people can easily find your website through Google.

Now PR does get a bit complicated when you really look into it. But here is a formula that may help some who have a pretty good understanding already.

PageRank for each specific page is calculated by the number of inbound links from within and outside the site. The equation to calculate PageRank is relatively complicated, but a page’s PageRank is simply:

PR = 0.15 + 0.85*(the share of the PR of the link)

A page that has a higher value for its share, then, will increase your own PR naturally. The Page Rank of a page that links to yours is a critical factor in the number of links on your page that become important. Essentially, Google PR calculates the final value by:

1. Determining the value of your websites inbound links on multiple pages.

2. The value of your website’s internal linking.

The number of pages within the site; the more pages that a website has, the higher the Page Rank will be.

The number of dangling links in the page (sometimes not picked up by Google).

I hope that helps some understand that it’s not just the link but who you link to that really matters.

Truth be told, I don\’t get why you\’re not swamped either, but you close on a very good point, which Chris extends on. People really don\’t put enough towards link generation. Much like advertising for a local show without posters.

Hey, I just thought of an analogy: links are like brand recognition. That\’s interesting. I\’m going to write about that.

Hi Steve; just got off the phone with Dr. Pat’s people; they are “trying” to figure out how everything works. It doesn’t appear difficult to me; but then that’s me.

Thank you for the call today.

I appreciate your time.
