Continuing the Series On Keywords today I want to take a look at Yahoo Buzz. Yahoo is the second ranked Search Engine with 20% of all web searches, and Yahoo Buzz tracks the Top Searches on the Internet and calculates the Buzz based on several factors such as Searches, Votes, and Emails. So this is really a good indicator of What ’s Hot On The Internet.
Like Google Trends which tracks what’s hot by the minute, Yahoo Buzz tracks not only what’s hot today, but keeps a running log of what’s hot over time.
Yahoo Buzz Log gives you the up to the minute Hot Topics of the day. The Story “Title” would be considered the general Keyword, subniche Keywords are “Highlighted” for you.
The “Overall” list is like the Top 40 Hit Music Charts of Searches and is divided into 2 Categories:
- Leaders: (Left Side) This shows you the Top 20 Searches
in order and includes Stats like how many Days On Chart,
the Position (Move Up or Down) and gives it a Score. - Movers: (Right Side) This shows the Top 20 Hot Movers
based on Percentage of Increased Search up to 5,000%
Over 5,000% Increase is called a Breakout.

So how can you apply Yahoo Buzz for your own Keywords? No matter what market you are in you should keep your eyes on the pulse of the Internet. Watch What’s Hot and what Key words people are searching for. Then you will be able to apply this knowledge to your own promotions, articles, blog posts, web copy, and in many other ways.
